Essential Duties

Develop and maintain production schedule for all areas

Measure and report on capacity and workload by production area

Develop daily & weekly production schedules for all departments including detailed Plan of the Day

Prioritize jobs based on due dates, material availability, & shop capacity

Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure raw materials are available on time

Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays & bottlenecks

Communicate schedule changes and priorities to supervisors & shop personnel

Collaborate with engineering & sales on job feasibility & routing improvements

Track overview of sales, over dues, and backlog daily

Monitor production needs to produce product on time (tools, raw material, hardware, machine capacity, outside process support, sales support, etc). 

Anticipate barriers to on-time shipment and take action to remove the barriers. Look out at least 60 days to identify problems. Project the need for contract manufacturing or overtime

Keep the ERP system updated with correct information as appropriate

Collaborate with Operations and Sales on issues that delay schedules

  Primary source of schedule information for Sales and Customer Service

  Provide feedback for rush requests and move up requests

  Cross train to provide support when needed for Production Control Department

  Drive scheduling continual improvements to improve flow and throughput

 

Responsibilities

Primary subject matter expert on scheduling functions of ERP

Develop, manage, and maintain production schedule through entire production process

Basic understanding of the Quality Management System

Primary source of production schedule information

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Authority

Education and/or Experience

Must have a strong understanding of everything Production needs to produce product on time (tools, raw material, hardware, machine capacity, outside processes, etc.)

Understanding of fabrication processes: Laser cutting, Forming, Welding, etc.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a high-mix environment

Strong analytical and problem solving skills to interpret complex scheduling data

Position requires attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to manage complex schedules under tight deadlines

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Excellent communication skills to coordinate with teams, convey information and resolve scheduling conflicts

 

Other required or recommended knowledge, skills or abilities:

Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point

ERP System Experience

Scheduling System Experience

APICs Certification

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Combination of office & shop floor environment

Frequent interaction with production staff, supervisors, & sales

Fast-paced setting with changing priorities & tight deadlines

Mobility within the work facility

Will perform repetitive movement with hands when typing

Communicating with others both verbally and written
